Leadership Team

David began his career with Avdel Corporation where he worked for ten years as a sales engineer selling blind fastening systems and installation tooling to manufacturers. His mechanical aptitude helped him to be a key consultant when introducing automated riveting systems (BRIV) to key accounts including AMC, John Deere, and Everbrite. He was instrumental in introducing the monobolt to the transportation industry. In 1985 he resigned to join his brother in the founding of K&L Sales.

Tom’s entry into the fastener industry began as a rep for Hilti Fastening Systems. After several years with Hilti, Tom was hired by Cleveland Cap Screw of Cleveland, OH as a sales engineer responsible for a four-state Midwest territory. Tom then joined Crown Screw and Bolt Corp where he worked as a sales rep and eventually sales manager until they closed their doors in 1983. Instead of looking for a job with another fastener company, Tom decided the time was right to open his own business and started Universal Fastener Corp with his brother-in-law. He eventually sold his interest in Universal to give 100% of his attention to K&L Sales.

Brian joined the family business in 2005 upon graduation from UW-Milwaukee with a BBA in Marketing. He began with the company as the Account Executive serving the Illinois Territory. Brian has consistently grew revenues since coming on-board by exceeding customer’s expectations. In 2012, Brian was promoted to Sales Manager where he has taken a more active role in the future direction of K&L Sales. In 2014, Brian was promoted to General Manager. His focus is on innovation – how to continually find new ways to connect with customers.

Marty has been in the fastening industry for almost 30 years, 17 of them with K&L. He was interested in technology early, putting fasteners on a computer in the 80’s using FASPAC. Marty is responsible for K&L’s IT operations and security. He enjoys the challenge of helping customers solve their fastening problems.

Joel Robertson
Joel has been with K&L Sales for over twelve years. He began in inside sales, but his great rapport with customers earned him the job of VMI (vendor-managed inventory) specialist, working alongside the outside sales staff to provide excellent, on-site customer service to clients. In 2014, Joel Robertson was promoted to is present position as Sales Manager.
Jeremy Schultz
Jeremy has been with K&L since 2004. He began in the warehouse picking orders but soon learned shipping/receiving and was put in charge of the Autobag machine. After proving himself capable and reliable, he was promoted to inside sales and finally to his current position of purchasing manager.

Jill Knodl has been with K&L for over five years as our outsourcing expert. She came to K&L with over 20 years experience in the industry with companies such as Endries, Material Management Group, and Bossard North America. She enjoys seeing the variety of products that come across her desk and the challenge of not only finding suppliers of those products, but learning about the different products themselves.

Scott Saugstad
Scott Saugstad joined the K&L Sales team in March of 2015 as a Vendor Managed Inventory Specialist. He brings 8-years of previous fastener experience and knowledge to our staff and is a welcomed addition to our team.
